The Tiger's Wife: A Novel

The Tiger's Wife - Téa Obreht I finished this book today. After I finished, I am not sure how to rate this book or if I would recommend it. It has left me pondering the story and some characters. I am going to give it a few days before I rate it.

Salvage the Bones: A Novel

Salvage the Bones - Jesmyn Ward I found the dog fighting parts of the book very difficult to read. I admit to skimming over some of those parts. While many aspects of the book were difficult, I felt that it challenged me and had a real life feel to it. I found the overall story interesting and the beautiful writing really drew me in. I read the book over the course of a few days and eager to know what happened.

A Discovery of Witches: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy)

A Discovery of Witches - Deborah Harkness It was ok. The romance was a little too much. I was left wondering what will happen to the characters but unsure if I want to commit to two more long novels to find out. I am glad I tried a genre outside of my usual!

HHhH: A Novel

HHhH - Laurent Binet, Sam Taylor I read many positive reviews about this WWII historical novel and looked forward to reading it, especially since it took place in Prague. For the first half of the book, I did not mind the author's interjections about the research progress and such. Near the end, I found it quite distracting and at times annoying. I really wanted to like this book more than I did.

Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef

Blood, Bones, and Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef - Gabrielle Hamilton I was listening to this book on cd a few months ago. While I found the story to be slightly engaging, I just lost interest and have not found my way back. Maybe some day, I will give it a try again.

You Can't Fire Everyone: And Other Lessons from an Accidental Manager

You Can't Fire Everyone: And Other Lessons from an Accidental Manager - Hank Gilman An easy read, focusing on the author's experience in journalism. I was expecting the book to be different.
